Workplace violence in California causes thousands of injuries and almost one hundred deaths annually. The state of California has enacted SB 553, which requires annual training to teach employees how to identify workplace violence, recognize potential threats, and report incidents of workplace violence. This training course covers these crucial topics as well as ways to prevent workplace violence, handling dangerous situations, and much more. Viewers are shown how to identify warning signs from co-workers, such as an obsession with guns and violent incidents, paranoia, ongoing violations of work policies, and a decrease in work quality. Under SB 553, employees who report workplace violence concerns to their manager, or who seek help from emergency services, are protected from retaliation.
